Are you saved?

Are you saved?

That was the question that was being discussed in confirmation class today. How would you respond to that?

A whirl of thoughts filled my mind in how to explain it logically.

It's unquestionable and i positively knew inside of me that i am saved.

If you are drowned and a lifeguard rescued you, would you not know who saved you?

Had a friend pulled you away from incoming vehicle, would you not know you are saved?

In this instance "being saved" refers to our eternal life in heaven.

There were many experiences in my life where God came to my rescue.

Yup, and more than that His living word proclaims truth to say that He has sent His son to die for us as a perfect sacrifice for our sins. And by accepting and believing through faith that He is our saviour, we therefore have eternal life. What an amazing gift, what amazing love.

A little break

My ex-boss J is back. It feels alot more easier on my shoulders now that she's back. Still alot of emotions, some good, others are more selfish reasons. It's important to have these feelings sorted out before it gets out of hand. Need to pray for God's guidiance and trust that his plans for me are greater than my own.

Personal plans are getting more detailed. Did you know that there are actually alot of tension and pressure in wedding preperations? I've attended many wedding dinners/celebrations and have no idea how difficult it is. The important thing is to remain happy througout and not be overwhealmed by the details and the $$ required. God will make a way.

I'm relaxing now at a chalet right now. It feels good to not be doing anything stressful/routine/answering emails/attending meetings.. IT'S GREAT TO TAKE A BREAK!

I've been thinking about alot of things besides work during this break. My future, the usual concerns, shopping (which girl don't like to shop/ window shop?) and the planet earth resources and how i always seem to feel that the world is coming to an end. The earth's resources is depleting and its easy to point the finger at who is to blame, but i guess its everybody's business to influence or educate the person next to us to be mindful of mother nature instead of adopting a "i can afford it so i will just use it" attitude. There are plenty of great leaders that has set good examples. Just to name afew, Bill Gates and his wife that has set out to use his resources to help the impoverished countries or Mother Teresa who ministed to the poor?

It's one thing to be able to afford the resources, its another to be able to use it wisely and responsibly.

Brighter than Sunshine

I'm currently hooked to the song "Brighter than Sunshine".

It's the song that was played during the credits roll of "Alot like Love".

I'm not usually moved by movies, but this show really moved me in a strange way. I've watched it more than once and it engages and connects with the audience. In some way its fantasy and yet in some scenes its very realistic.

I have not been connected this way for a long time. A kinda lost and noticed but not yet found feeling. I know i'm sounding really deep right now. But that's the way i am. I have been brought up watching western shows more than mandarin dramas and this is one western show i wouldn't mind watching again.

The song Brighter than Sunshine has tunes that is soulful. He (the singer) looks quite dorky with his glasses but he rocks the music scene, writing songs at the age of 4 and offered a scholarship to pursue his dreams at the age of 16. Hey if that aint talent than what is!

Encouragement for the month of May

If you have been reading the newspapers for awhile, you would have noticed alot of it has coverage on bad news. People getting murdered, injustice (like the recent spat of the Romanian who got into a hit and run accident and is still brought to justice), volcano, Tiger Woods and Jack Neo with their scandalous frivolous lifestyles and what have you. It almost seems like the world is coming to an end. But do not lose hope.

Yes, no doubt this world is full of woes, but keep your eyes on God. Open them to the good of close people around you. Thank God for family members, close friends and the food that we eat. I know these seem like trival matters. Probably even the very basic necessities of life. But if we stop and ponder hard enough we will realise that it is these basic necessities that enable us to live day to day peacefully. God promised to be our provider and he has indeed provided well majority of us those basic needs to get us through.

I just had an Cornetto Vanilla Choc ice cream and i consider that a bonus!

I don't usually talk about my work but today i would dwell alittle into it. I have been in this company for 3 years now. According to the newspapers, 3 years in the same company is no mean feat. A great accomplishment as my generation are called strawberries and one who goes for instant gratification. I stand out alot in this aspect, not through my own might. I have been bestowed duties and more duties as the years go by. Many times i sit in the hot seat not knowing what to do next (not because i got nth to do, but don't know which task to start with!). But God has been extremely gracious and kind. Each time i fall He picks me up and refreshes my soul. Nobody knows the tears that i've cried or the sacrifices i've made but i know God sees it all.

Remember that despite my accomplishment and sacrifice:
Isaiah 64:6 But we are all like an unclean thing, And our righteousness are like filthy rags; We all fade as a leaf, And our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.

Yet God promises in
Isaiah 58:11 The Lord will guide you ALWAYS; He will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land (like Singapore) and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.

I know God can do that for me. To strengthen this small frame of mine.

Trust in God, for He is mighty to save.

Farming from virtual to reality.

Avid Famville and Happy Farmers gamers, here's something interesting which i read in newsweek.

An entrepreneur from Nanjing has actually opened up a restaurant name Happy Farmers, complete with computer games. There even have "stolen vegetable" on their menu which they serve as free appetisers.

Also there are many urban chinese nationals who pine for their peasent life where things was much simpler. So they go buy a plot of land, plant vegetables and install a video so that they can monitor how the plants grow. That is sure an extravagant way of expressing ur passion.

It's been raining the whole day. Morning rain once, night rain once. But i am just thankful for the rain. I just read an email on the world wide web being evil and assoicated with the numbers 666.

Well we all have to be caution about what we do or portray ourselves on the web. I do agree that there is alot of freedom that can be abused online. The web is just going to keep growing as people finds it more functional and convenient to do things over the internet.

So friends, we (including myself) have to be careful what we are reading, watching or revealing about ourselves.

I remember vaguely reading a newspaper article some years back on an experiment whereby a celebrity was placed in a hotel room with a laptop. The celebrity was to function as per normal, meaning continue to work, eat and shop without leaving the room. I hope we will never reach this stage whereby we lock ourselves up in our own little hole and continue to treasure personal relationships through physically meeting up with people. Continue to come to church, meet with cell and continue to encourage each other.

Meaning of a Boss

What comes to mind when you thing about your boss?

Linda's definition of boss: "I think of someone as being responsible, wise, influential,resourceful and admired."

Well then i checked dictionary.com for their version of a boss
1. "a person who employs or superintends workers; manager. "
2. "a politician who controls the party organization, as in a particular district. "
3. "a person who makes decisions, exercises authority, dominates"
4. "to be master of or over; manage; direct; control. "
5. "to order about, esp. in an arrogant manner. "
6. "to be too domineering and authoritative. "

So which definition would you choose?

When i look at no.5 and no.6., it reminded me of the book Miss Bossy.

My definition is more towards describing character traits of a boss, while the dictionary definition is more towards decribing the job of a boss.

Would you think of God as being your boss?

After all, He is in control over your life. He has more than just the character traits that i descibed. On top of that, He is loving merciful, gracious, generous... ...etc. more than we can ever imagine.

Let's give thanks for a wonderful God!

~Calling All Yougurt Lovers!!~

Today my sis and i decided to go to vivo after church to chill. Had actually decided on a nice ice chocolate drink at coffee bean or starbucks but... We ended up at this awfully cute YIGLOO shop. I really nice the cute deco and the little chairs they've put around. The staff there are very helpful too.

First up, you get to choose your flavours. We picked Strawberry and Mixed Berry, which is a wonderful combination. The staff kindly helped us with the filling our cups with the yummy flavours.

Next, you go straight for the toppings. The toppings are nicely chopped up and extremely fresh. My sis added nata de coco, strawberry, peach, oreo cookie and some cereal crunch (i was joking with her that this wasn't ice kachang). It didn't matter what she picked, everything went well with the yogurt ice cream!

We will defninitely come by and have it again.

Relationships are really a sticky thing isn't it. I mean.. friends they say wacky things and bring alot of insights. But what if they get critical? I mean too close for comfort that they comment on things that are really personal. The fact that they are close also mean that what they say will matter to you as well. But assuming that they really know you that well, then shouldn't they know how to bring an important message to you gently? Wouldn't they look out for the best time to tell you certain things?

Often that isn't the case, its a close relationship that often goes wrong. Maybe both parties have been taken for granted. And many a times its one eye for the other.

Take time to treasure your friendships and loved ones. You can't always say the right things or do the right things, but at the end of the day you could at least say i tried.

Does anybody care about how i think?

When people complain you have to listen. When people impose opinions and ideas you have to say. You try to make yourself heard, your over defensive or even rebellious.

The only time people bother to listen to me is when i make a mistake and they just want to hear how i am gonna cover my ass......

So when will i ever be heard? I know where. My blog. It can't talk back at me. =)

Somehow or rather, everybody needs support. So do i....

Is it me or is it skype...

I was talking to my fiance (now must start the habit of calling him fiance) and the error msg appears after a few minutes

"Skype has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

Is it just me... or are other skype users having the same problem.

I will fix my eyes on the cross till when i close my eyes i see the cross.

Trying to remain calm despite the feeling of being left behind. It sometimes feel pointless to develop friendships when at the end, they say goodbye. Just heard news of the resignation of 2 "friends". Gets alittle demoralising, but i guess this is how it all works. Perhaps one day, it'll be my turn too.

Today i learn something, that is not be too concerned over material things that i forget that how spiritually blessed i already am.
