Had a happy time celebrating christmas early last Sunday, 21st Dec 2008 with my ex-poly mates and boyfriend. Glad that dearie didn't feel too awkward. Ayee they still look the same, talk the same. Haha... just maybe more matured working adults. We had a feast with Turkeys, hams and log cakes... MMmmmMmm what a spread i must say. All branded stuff, it all didn't come cheap. Ice Cream Log Cake from Goodwood Park, Ham and Turkey from Bakerzin, meatballs and chicken wings from Ikea..etc. Mouth-watering!! Just the thought of it make me wish it would replay itself again.
After all that feasting, it was followed by a round of games. Majong experts and Monopoly idiots emerged. Tired, i headed back to boyfriend's house to have dinner with his family.
Hope they'll be more happy things to come for me to blog. You know they all say, this year, Christmas is going to be gloomy. All because of the spoiled market, downplayed by credit crunch and the lack in liquidity. But, i shall choose to be happy. Cause there's always something to be cheerful and thankful about. My boyfriend's here, my family are all well, my friends are all fine and i still got a job... sooOOOo pop the champagnes its celebration time!

Finally, AaaaH
Sigh, yes i am sighing but its not a sigh of disappointment rather a sigh of relief.
My colleague has been on block leave for a couple of weeks now. Finally he is back. Boy am i relieved of all his duties. It's really no joke juggling two and a half persons job scope. Stressed and fed up i was during this period of time. Affecting mainly my mood and my spirits. But it was thanks to the events on each weekend that spurred me on, leaving me looking forward to Fridays every Monday.
It's my turn to take a break after all the turn of events.
I am going to leave work ON TIME today. The last time i left work on time was 20th AUGUST oke. AUGUST LEH!!!
Ya... well this weekend shall be the most eventful one of the year.
With dental appointments, malay wedding and musical happening all on a Saturday.
Christmas get together with Poly classmates on Sunday.
YippieeeeEEEEeee... finally i feel christmas is near.

My start to a long weekend
I have been waiting for this long weekend to come.
It's been a really hectic week for me at work. Alot of drama happening in that little corner of mine.
I slept till 9am this morning. Greeted by the lovely morning breeze.
I slacked around quite abit and only started doing things after lunch.
List of things completed today:
Haircut (check)
Lunch (check)
New Spectacles (check)
My mother graciously embraced spending 3 to 4 hours with me just to get my haircut and spectacles done. I've been contemplating for 4 months now with regards to getting a new pair of glasses. Didn't know where to go get my glasses! I didn't want to be overcharged, but i wanted a good pair of glasses. So i went to this rather modern spectacle shop in my neighbourhood. And i am pleasently surprised with their exceptionally good service and reasonably priced spectacles.
The guy who helped me with picking a frame was very patient and engaging. He was very nice and open when it came to the price. He explored the many optional frames. Just very happy with the options that i've explored.
So now i have a modern looking reasonably priced pair of spectacles that i paid for myself.
I can truly see myself as their long-time serving customer. A huge thank you to Infinity Eyewear Pte Ltd. Thank you Darren for making the whole experience enjoyable.

A little moment to ponder on life.
As the hours and minutes pass, i wonder how much of my time i consider as having done something meaningful.
Tapping my feet i wonder what can really bring my happiness and meaning. Just as i enter into deep thoughts, i remember the reality and responsibility that comes along as being an adult. Perseverence and patience they say. What a long long way to go. Once i thought days pass my quickly, now my minutes seem like hours.
I used to think that happiness should accumulate as we grow older. Now i think its a blessing if our worries and troubles do not multiply. I've learnt afew humble lessons here and there. God forbid it that these lessons will never amount to anything.
Onwards with courage and faith i shall go.

Historic Moments and Trying Times
The new president has been elected. I am glad that Barack Obama got voted. Enough of the glitz and glamourous. What is needed now during this trying time is a down to earth and devoted to solve the problems that in America that has shook the world. Casting a shadow over everyone's head.
Singpore's Local Bank has done it again. Splashing front page of the newspaper, layoffs...etc.
Well i didn't expect it to come so soon. Flip over to the Recruit pages in the newspapers. Once, it was all about the high banking posts. Mangers, Directors... High in demand have all sweeped to disappearance all within days. Today, there is none in sight. On the flip side, goverment positions are available. A desperate bid by the goverment to reduce the unemployment rate?
Today i was walking to church, I walk this same route plenty of times. Along this route, there is a landed property that has been demolished. Workers were busy building another house from scratch. Walking past them, God suddenly reminded me that He is my firm foundation. In God i can trust and be secured. What a timely reminder, and what comfort it brought me. Despite the turbulent financials, God still cared about me.
It's not what i've done... it's called grace of God.

稻 香 - Fragrant Rice
Finally a song not about love from Zhou Jie Lun.
You know how Singapore advertisement for New Moon rice is always around family.
The main meaning of the song is about family being the treasure.
I have looked for the translation but i felt none of them were accurate enough. Anyways, here are the translation for the first few lines. (i've edited afew lines cause the paraphrasing was wrong...)
"If you have too many complains in this world
Once you fall down, you won't have a courage to move forward
Why are humans so fragile
Please switch on the TV and watch
How many people try hard and brave to move forward just because of living
Shouldn't we feel contented
Treasure what you have now, even though you don't actually own everything
Remember back then you said home is the only castle
Fragrance rice, as the river continue flowing
Slightly smile, dream of childhood, I know
Don't cry, let firefly bring you running.
Forever rely on village folk song
Go home, back to the beginning of beauty
Don't give up so fast
Like what I said
The dream you can't achieve, just exchange it, you got it"
Can go catch the video in youtube if you're curious enough.
It's 4pm, time for me to go gai gai (walk walk).

The most important stop in the race is the pit stop
The formula one race was filled with nothing but twists, turns and tons of surprises.
Many thought that Masa would be the sure winner from the race based on the qualifying rounds. Yet, he was beaten and came in as one of the last few. Some called it a fluke, some say it was sheer luck. Whatever it was, it was the pit stop that shocked many. Something happened to the fuel, maybe it was a mechanical error, but the green light was on before the re-fueller was released.
You see, even car racers sees the importance of a pit stop. To change tyres, refuel, rectify mechanical errors...etc. What more we humans?!
At least that was the message that i tried to bring to my group of Sec4s who are squeezing they're brain juices for the vigorous dreadful O level exams. As they mug and worry for the papers, i as a CGL has a greater duty to pray for them. As Matthew 18:19-20 says that we should pray in unison that He might hear.
I should be fervent as i really do desire for all of them to do well. In my eyes, they are way above average. For some, genius; It's a gift i so strongly believe that God has given.
Blessed is he who trust in the name of the Lord. Hope that they will not worry too much for the unseen. After all, this is only but one of the many phases in life that we all have to face. Perhaps it is Singapore culture that the emphasis on grades and achievements far exceed the importance of other heart to heart matters in life.
There is much more to life than just earthly gains...
